Public and private sector leaders gather to explore Belgium’s Charleroi Biopark model, laying the foundation for a national life sciences cluster.

The American Chamber of Commerce in Guyana (AMCHAM Guyana), in collaboration with PwC Guyana and the Charleroi Biopark (Belgium), convened a high-level strategic session bringing together key public- and private-sector stakeholders to chart a course for Guyana’s emerging life sciences sector. The session focused on the renowned Charleroi Biopark model—a framework connecting academic research, private enterprise, healthcare institutions, and capital investors to create sustainable, high-growth biotechnology clusters. Chaleroi is a biopark located in Belgium. The team is funded by the European Union to conduct a study for a Lifesciences biopark development for Guyana. Discussions included solutions for building a collaborative framework and mobilizing capital forward. Led by the Ministry of Health, the initiative is part of the Pharmanext project funded by the European Commission.
