Dear Editor,
We have previously advocated for the renaming of the McKenzie Bridge, and on behalf of my fellow Lindeners, I would do so again.
The bridge was built by DEMBA between 1966 and 1967 under the Forbes Burnham administration. It would therefore be fitting and appropriate to name it after one of Linden’s pioneers or early businesspersons who contributed to the development of our community.
The proposed names were:
- Gloria Layne
- Hugh Harris
- Rev. Lance Wilson
- Robert Corbin
- Haslyn Parris
- Horace James
One would expect the relevant authorities to select a name from this list, particularly since, when the names were previously proposed, none was rejected.
We, the people of Linden, must stand united and speak with one voice in honouring our leaders and recognising those who helped shape our community’s history.
Yours truly,
Gavin Thomas
