At the start of the official talks, the Amir welcomed President Ali and the accompanying delegation, expressing hope that the visit would further broaden the prospects for cooperation between the two countries and contribute to their mutual interests.

He expressed appreciation for the warm reception and hospitality extended to him and the Guyanese delegation, while reaffirming Guyana’s commitment to deepening relations with Qatar.

He said, “Guyana is keen to strengthen cooperation relations and advance them toward further development and growth.”

The two sides discussed the state of bilateral relations and explored avenues for cooperation, particularly in investment.

They also exchanged views on several regional and international issues of mutual interest.

The official talks were followed by a bilateral meeting between President Ali and the Amir, during which the two leaders further exchanged perspectives on major current issues and developments.

Earlier on Tuesday, the president arrived at the Amiri Diwan, where he received an official welcome and participated in a formal reception ceremony.

The head of state was accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Hugh Todd, Guyana’s Ambassador to Qatar Safraaz Ahmad Shadood, Director of Presidential Affairs at the Office of the President Marcia Mezan Sharma, George Andrew Hallaq and other members of the official delegation.

On the Qatari side, the discussions were attended by Chief of the Amiri Diwan Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Khulaifi, Minister of State for Energy Affairs Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi, Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al Khulaifi, along with other senior officials.

Following the official engagements, the Amir hosted a luncheon in honour of President Ali and the Guyanese delegation.

The engagement is part of the president’s state visit to Qatar, which commenced on Sunday following his arrival in Doha.
