The government is expanding opportunities for Guyanese to acquire professional skills, with the health sector among those benefiting from increased access to training.
The Ministry of Health, through its Health Sciences Education Unit, is inviting eligible persons from all regions to apply for its Professional Nursing Training Programme.
The three-year programme uses a hybrid approach, allowing aspiring nurses to complete theoretical components virtually while undertaking practical training in their respective regions.
The approach is intended to bring health sciences education closer to communities and reduce the need for trainees to relocate to Georgetown to pursue professional training.
The initiative follows the recent graduation of 186 nurses from the Ministry of Health’s Professional Nursing Hybrid Training Programme, the largest cohort produced under the programme.
The nurses were among 669 graduates who recently received qualifications from the Ministry of Health.
Meanwhile, persons between 18 and 40 who meet the required educational qualifications are eligible to apply for the training programme.
Applications are open to persons from all regions and must be submitted online before September, 30 via https://hsetraining.health.gov.gy/.
