With an exceptionally busy international sporting calendar throughout 2026, the Guyana Olympic Association (GOA) has officially announced Team Guyana for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, scheduled to be held in Glasgow, Scotland, from 23 July to 2 August 2026.
The 23rd Commonwealth Games will bring together approximately 3,000 athletes from 74 Commonwealth nations and territories, competing in a streamlined programme of ten sports, including the largest integrated Para sport programme in Commonwealth Games history.
Guyana will proudly compete in Athletics, Boxing, Swimming, and Men’s 3×3 Basketball, with the latter marking Guyana’s historic debut in the Commonwealth Games.
During a team briefing held prior to departure, GOA President Godfrey Munroe and Secretary General Vidushi Persaud-McKinnon congratulated the athletes and officials on earning the privilege of representing Guyana on one of the Commonwealth’s biggest sporting stages.
They encouraged the delegation to compete with pride, determination and integrity, reminding the athletes that every performance carries the hopes and aspirations of the Guyanese people.
Also present was GOA Treasurer Garfield Wiltshire, who joined in extending best wishes to the delegation and expressed confidence in Team Guyana’s ability to represent the nation with distinction.
President Munroe commended the athletes for their dedication, discipline and commitment throughout their preparation and expressed confidence that they would continue to uphold Guyana’s growing reputation in international sport.
Secretary General Persaud-McKinnon encouraged the athletes to embrace every opportunity the Games present, support one another across all sporting disciplines, and exemplify the Olympic values of Excellence, Friendship and Respect throughout the competition.
Leading the delegation is Chef de Mission Sheryl Hermonstine, supported by Physiotherapists Vanessa Wickham and Kevon David, who will oversee the health, recovery and wellbeing of Team Guyana throughout the Games.

The Guyana Olympic Association also acknowledges the unwavering commitment of the national sport federations, coaches, technical officials, medical personnel, sponsors, partners and supporters whose collective efforts have helped prepare Team Guyana for international competition.
As the Commonwealth Games officially commence on 23 July, the Guyana Olympic Association invites all Guyanese, both at home and across the diaspora, to unite in support of Team Guyana as they compete against the Commonwealth’s finest athletes.
The Association extends its very best wishes to every athlete and official for a successful and memorable Games and looks forward to celebrating their achievements as they proudly represent the Golden Arrowhead on the international stage.
