Foreign Secretary Robert Persaud met with the Director General of Central America and the Caribbean of Global Affairs Canada Mr. Mark Richardson, accompanied by High Commissioner of Canada to Guyana, H.E. Sébestien Sigouin.

The director general’s visit to Guyana follows on the heels of President Ali’s visit to Canada last week, during which he met with Prime Minister Carney.

Persaud said they had a fruitful conversation on issues of mutual interest for our countries and agreed to work harder to upscale our bilateral relations.

“We committed to expand our trade relations, scale up investment opportunities, and strengthen security cooperation. I reiterated the appreciation of the Guyana Government for Canada’s continued support in defence of Guyana’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” he said.

Canada remains a reliable partner for Guyana.

“Our partnership is rooted in shared values, principles and mutual respect,” he said.
