The scholarship-based programme, held from April 2025 to April 22, 2026, brought together a selected group of national coaches and officials responsible for their respective disciplines worldwide and was delivered in collaboration with the International Olympic Committee and the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee.
It equips participants with advanced training and competencies in sport science and systems, athlete development, talent identification, coaching education and management, and sport management, while fostering leadership and ethical practice.
As part of the programme, which included classes session exposure to high performance systems Mrs. Headley completed a thesis titled “A Strategic Framework for Transitioning Youth and Junior in Athletics Success and Talent into Elite Performance,” which was highly commended for its practical relevance to athletics development in Guyana.
Graduates of the ICECP are expected to serve as thought leaders and change agents enhancing their national coaching systems and implementing sustainable development programmes, contributing to the growth of sport. In this regard, the GOA looks forward to working with Mrs. Headley and the AAG to implement her project and further strengthen athletics development pathways in Guyana.
Mrs. Headley described her ICECP experience as a highly enriching and transformative journey, highlighting the value of learning from world-class mentors and gaining advanced knowledge in sport. She emphasized the importance of the Lausanne module in deepening her expertise and building lasting professional networks. A standout moment for her was receiving her diploma from Kirsty Coventry the first Female President of the IOC . She also expressed sincere gratitude to the University of Delaware, the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee, her tutor Randy Wilbur, the Athletic Association of Guyana, the Guyana Olympic Association, her family, and all supporters who contributed to her success.
Mrs. Headley now joins a global network of ICECP alumni and received certification jointly issued by the University of Delaware and the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee.
