The fourth edition of the Information Communications Technology (ICT) Roadshow, organised by the Office of the Prime Minister’s Industry and Innovation Unit, is currently underway. The first event took place on Friday, February 27, 2026, at Golden Grove Secondary School, featuring students from Grades Ten and Eleven. This annual programme, designed as an ‘edutainment’ session, aims to engage young people in ICT discussions, explore new and emerging technologies, and provide a platform for sharing knowledge and raising awareness about the ICT sector. During these sessions, students participate in discussions covering topics such as Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, the role of ICT in the economy, and the government’s plans and impact on the ICT sector.

Under the recurring theme “Today’s Youth, Tomorrow’s Digital Innovators,” the unit has, to date, engaged with over 22 schools in Regions Two, Three, Four, Five, Six, and Ten. In 2026, the unit plans to expand the programme to include Hinterland Schools in Regions One, Eight, and Nine, thereby reaching 9 out of 10 regions across Guyana. The expansion ensures that students from diverse backgrounds can participate in interactive sessions focused on the effective use of ICT in industry and government, as well as its impact on socio-economic development.

Shahrukh Hussain, the Director of the Industry and Innovation Unit within the Office of the Prime Minister, emphasises the unit’s commitment to fostering innovation and will continue to collaborate with government agencies and the private sector to inspire a spirit of innovation among young people.

The next leg of the roadshow is scheduled for March, with events planned in Leguan, Region Three, and Kato, Region Eight, marking the first time these locations will host the initiative.

The mission of the Industry and Innovations Unit is to level the playing field for equitable access and economic advancement for all Guyanese, promote economic growth, eradicate social injustices, and establish an enabling environment for an ICT-driven society.
