He was a powerful and charismatic leader who unified the Arabian Peninsula and established the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 1932. The Embassy of India, Riyadh Saudi Arabia mentions: “Saudi Arabia owes its present formation to King Abdulaziz Al-Saud (1882-1953), who established the modern Kingdom in 1932. Since 1953, Saudi Arabia has been ruled by the sons of King Abdulaziz. The present ruler King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, ascended to the throne in January 2015.
He also played a key role in the discovery and development of Saudi Arabia’s oil resources.

OPEC+ slashes output, Brazil to join in 2024
November 30, 2023. “ VIENNA: Saudi Arabia on Thursday announced it would extend its voluntary oil production cut of one million barrels per day “until the end of the first quarter of 2024”, according to a statement.”

Current 13 OPEC members are Algeria, Angola, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Libya, Nigeria, the Republic of the Congo, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Venezuela.
Ecuador, Indonesia, and Qatar are former OPEC members.
A larger group called OPEC+, consisting of OPEC members plus other oil-producing countries, formed in late 2016 to exert more control on the global crude-oil market. Canada, Egypt, Norway, and Oman are observer states.
