The seminar is conceptualized and produced by artist manager, A&R, and author Demonie  Wilson, professionally known as Squidell. Essential Notes is designed to equip students and  emerging creatives with practical insight into Jamaica’s music and creative industries, with a  focus on strengthening the connection between creativity, culture, and the business structures that  support sustainable careers.

Widely respected for his conscious lyricism, cultural integrity, philanthropic efforts, and global  reggae presence, Jesse Royal emphasized the importance of initiatives that invest in industry  development and talent growth, stating that, “Engagements like these that truly seek to stimulate  the other side of our creative industry are things we should welcome with open arms, as Jamaica  has never been short of talent but more so individuals and entities that can help to develop all the  emerging talent as well as create new opportunities in this fertile space.”

Wilson underscored that accessibility remains central to the mission of Essential Notes.

“Essential Notes is about access; access to knowledge, experience, and honest conversations  about the industry,” said Demonie “Squidell” Wilson. “By keeping this seminar free and  featuring voices like Jesse Royal, we’re ensuring that students and young creatives can learn  directly from those who are actively shaping the culture and the business.”

The seminar will feature open discussion, reflection, and practical guidance for students, artists,  and aspiring music professionals seeking a deeper understanding of music as both art and  enterprise.
