What if every sip of tea, every bite of cassava bread, and every drop of cassareep told a story of heritage, tradition, and national pride? Well, that is what Green Diamond Foods, the agro-processing brand under Centaur Holdings, has been doing since its establishment in 2016.

Rooted in the Pomeroon’s rich Amerindian traditions, Centaur Holdings, infuses its products with cultural authenticity, ancestral wisdom, and a deep reverence for nature. From cassava cassareep and cassava bread to plantain flour, power mix porridge, teas, and even carambola fruit mix, each item represents a blend of Indigenous heritage and local agriculture, crafted for Guyanese consumers, the diaspora, health-conscious buyers, tourists, and international markets.

This Amerindian Heritage Month, the GNBS proudly features Centaur Holdings for its commitment to Indigenous ingredients and farm-to-table authenticity. The company stands apart as more than an agro-processor; it is a cultural ambassador, championing Pomeroon heritage, community empowerment, and innovation grounded in tradition.

Centaur Holdings’ GNBS Approved Made in Guyana Certified Product Line.

On October 24, 2022, the company secured the rights to use the GNBS Approved Made in Guyana Standards Mark on its various products. General Manager, Michellina Richmond noted, the impact of the Made in Guyana Standards Mark, earned through GNBS certification, has been transformative.

“For Centaur Holdings, certification has meant trust and credibility, stronger brand recognition, enhanced competitiveness, market access, and support for the national economy. Certification is not just a badge, it is a gateway to growth, visibility, and the preservation of cultural pride,” she proudly noted.

Behind the brand’s consistency lies strict conformance to quality control systems, traceability, hygiene, and production protocols, ensuring that the range of products meets specified requirements. Ms. Richmond highlighted that the journey with GNBS has been one of collaboration, growth, and transformation, and Centaur Holdings continues to raise the bar for Guyana’s agro-processing industry.

Looking ahead, Centaur Holdings is brimming with ambition, planning to expand its product line to showcase even more of Guyana’s rich agricultural produce. Their advice to other Indigenous and small businesses? “Start with passion, dedication, and determination. Stay consistent, invest in quality systems, tell your story, and think long-term”.

As we celebrate Amerindian Heritage Month, Centaur Holdings reminds us that every product made with love, heritage, and quality is more than food, it is a piece of Guyana’s story being preserved and shared with the world.

GNBS encourages more businesses to work towards attaining the Made in Guyana Certification of their locally manufactured products. The application form, along with the detailed requirements of the Programme, and the process of acquiring the Made in Guyana Standards Mark can be found on the GNBS website:  gnbsgy.org/certification/made-in-guyana-certification/

For further information, please contact GNBS on telephone numbers: 219-0064-66 or WhatsApp: 692-4627 or visit GNBS website: www.gnbsgy.org
