Guyana’s 2025 Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) and Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) results highlight remarkable academic achievements across both traditional and non-traditional schools, the Ministry of Education announced yesterday.
At a ceremony held at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre, Education Minister Priya Manickchand praised standout performances from Zeeburg Secondary, Bygeval Secondary, JC Chandisingh Secondary, and Mackenzie High School, all recording pass rates above 85%.
This year’s top achievers were Yunyi Zhon for CAPE and Jayden Adrian for CSEC. Mathematics showed particularly strong improvement: the overall CSEC pass rate rose by five percentage points, with 67% of schools offering the subject posting higher results. One school saw its pass rate soar from just 16% to over 80%.
Minister Manickchand credited the gains to nationwide intervention programmes that target academic weaknesses and provide structured support for students. She also highlighted the ongoing expansion of education infrastructure, with 42 new secondary schools expected to open by mid-2026, offering more children the chance to excel.
While overall CSEC results remained steady at 66.76%, CAPE results saw a slight dip from 92.57% in 2024 to 91.9% this year. The minister encouraged students to make full use of opportunities such as free access to the University of Guyana and scholarships through the GOAL programme, emphasizing that these initiatives empower young people to pursue their ambitions and shape their futures.
Minister Manickchand concluded that the 2025 results demonstrate that targeted investment in education is yielding results nationwide, proving that excellence can be achieved across all corners of Guyana.
