This island, the most developed in the British Overseas Territory, is the heart of the tourism industry and home to the world-famous Grace Bay Beach.
Nestled in a local community, Sueann’s kitchen draws in food lovers, tourists, and locals alike. The scent of spices wafting through the air leads them to her doorstep, and the flavours they experience keep them coming back. With freshly prepared Guyanese meals served daily, her small eatery offers a taste of home for many and an exciting culinary journey for others.
Sueann shared that her love for cooking began in childhood. Watching her mother, family, and friends in the kitchen sparked her interest, and at just 11 years old, she cooked her very first dish—chowmein.

Though trained as a teacher, Sueann taught in both Guyana and Turks and Caicos before transitioning fully to entrepreneurship. Cooking initially started as a side job, but her passion quickly outgrew the sidelines. The joy of sharing Guyanese food and the encouragement from her community led her to pursue it full time.
It was a decision well made. “Roti and curry are the islanders’ favourite,” she said. “Sometimes they order five or six rotis at once. They also love the pastries.” Her menu has become a staple in the area, satisfying cravings and stirring memories of home.
