The Guyana Independence Celebration Committee New York has announced that Chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus, Brooklyn Congresswoman Yvette Clarke, who represents the 9th Congressional District of New York, and Guyana’s top CSEC student for 2025, Jayden Adrian, will be the Grand Marshals for the Guyana Diamond Jubilee Independence parade on Sunday, June 7, 2026, in Brooklyn, New York.
Chairman of the Guyana Independence Committee New York, Rickford Burke said “Congresswoman has always stood with the Guyanese Community. Since her ascendancy to elected office, be it in the New York City Council, or in Congress, Yvette Clarke, has been an Indefatigable defender and fighter for the rights of Guyanese and other Caribbean Americans whose interests she advances in Congress every day.
“She is an integral part of our Brooklyn community. Its an honor to have her to serve as Grand Marshal of the Guyanese parade, along with young Jayden Adrian,” Burke emphasized.
Seventeen year old Jayden Adrian, who wrote an unprecedented twenty-seven (27) subjects at the CSEC examination, while attending Queens College, attained 21 Grade Ones and 6 Grade. He was one of two top performers in the entire Caribbean Region.
Burke said Adrian is an exceptionally brilliant young man with a mountain of ambition, including a desire to become an aeronautical engineer and that the Committee wanted to ensure the world knows about his brilliance and stellar academic accomplishments at such a young age. He is an example to other youth who is worthy of emulation, Burke said.
The Committee has called all Guyanese and Friends of Guyana to come out and celebrate Guyana’s Diamond Jubilee of Independence in Unity. The celebration theme is “Feel The Riddim Of The Nation @60. “
The Celebration commences with the Guyana Independence parade on Sunday, June 7, 2026. The parade starts at at Church and Utica Avenue, Brooklyn, at 12 p.m (noon).
The parade will proceed west on Church Ave, right on Linden Blvd, right Rockaway Avenue, left on Avenue D, to East 101st Street, to Foster Avenue for the Unity Concert at 3 p.m at 10101 Foster Avenue, corner of East 101st Street, Canarsie Brooklyn.

ROAD CLOSURES:
Organizers are advising the public of some road closures ahead of the parade.
Church between Utica Avenue and Linden Blvd; the southern carriageway on Linden Blvd, between Church Ave and Rockaway Avenue; Rockaway Avenue between Linden Blvd and Avenue D; as well as Avenue D between Rockaway Avenue and East 101st Street, will all be closed at various intervals during the parade. Persons who plan on traveling in these areas on June 7, between 12 noon and 3 pm should plan alternate routes.
