Roysdale Forde, Senior Counsel and Member of Parliament, is urging Guyanese to recognise the critical importance of voting in the upcoming September 1 General and Regional Elections. Calling the moment a chance to “reset our nation’s course,” Forde emphasised that this election offers an opportunity to reclaim dignity, equity, and opportunity for all.
“This election is not just another date on the calendar,” Forde declared in a broadcast earlier today. “The stakes are high. The time is now. And the choice is clear.”
As a legal luminary, a prominent member of the People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR) Forde’s endorsement of the A Partnership for National Unity–Working People’s Alliance (APNU–WPA) is both timely and significant. It comes amid a wave of high-profile resignations from the PNCR, which have stirred uncertainty within the coalition. The PNCR is the major party in the coalition.
Observers have expressed concern that Party Leader, Aubrey Norton’s, responses to the resignations have inflamed tensions and risk further alienating other members or demotivating them from participating in the election—or even casting a vote for the coalition. In this context, Forde’s strong public backing of Norton and prime ministerial candidate Juretha Fernandes may serve as a rallying call for supporters seeking clarity, unity, and renewed confidence.
In his address, Forde described Norton as “a man of the people—tested, proven, and grounded in the principles of democracy and national unity,” and praised Fernandes as a “breath of fresh leadership” marked by vision, integrity, and compassion.
“As someone who has stood firm for constitutional governance, legal reform, and economic equity, I can tell you this—under an A Partnership for National Unity–Working People’s Alliance government, your rights will be respected, your voice will be heard, and your future will be protected,” Forde stated.
Positioning the coalition as the vehicle for meaningful change, he urged citizens to unite behind its leadership: “Join me in standing with Aubrey Norton, Juretha Fernandes, and A Partnership for National Unity–Working People’s Alliance—for a Guyana that works for all. Vote APNU–WPA—The Right Leadership. The Right Direction. September 1, 2025.”
Forde’s endorsement not only signals confidence in the coalition’s leadership team but also strengthens his voice as a stabilising figure within the PNCR at a time of internal flux, reinforcing the call for a united front as the nation heads to the polls.
The endorsement comes on the same day the A Partnership for National Unity–Working People’s Alliance (APNU–WPA) officially launches its 2025 election campaign with a major rally at the Square of the Revolution in Georgetown. The event, set to begin at 4:00 PM, is expected to draw large crowds as the coalition seeks to energise its base and present its vision for Guyana’s future.
