Dear Editor,

References are made to news item on Opposition calling for an investigation into the Lamborghini scandal. It is recalled that three years ago, we were saddled with Su-Gate, allegations of corruption tied to Vice President Bharrat Jagdeo as revealed in an investigative video report. Su, a tenant of Jagdeo, revealed that the VP was involved in corruption that he fixes problems and investments.

And now we have Lamborghini-Gate, allegations of President Irfaan Ali’s alleged criminal conduct and interference to influence GRA to grant low duties on an imported Lamborghini. Ali is allegedly complicit in a crime of corruption. Who else did the President help at GRA? Did he intervene on behalf of the middle class, poor, Hindus, Christians?

There should be investigation on both gates or scandals. With this scandal over his head, should Ali still remain the Presidential candidate of the PPP for the 2025 elections?

Yours truly,
Tameshwar Roopnarine
