Azruddin Mohamed Security Officer Detained in ‘Paper Shorts’ Murder Probe

As a proud and patriotic citizen of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, I strongly condemn the illegal elections scheduled to take place today May 25, 2025, by Venezuela, which are being used as a platform to further illegitimate and baseless claims to Guyana’s sovereign territoryโ€”the Essequibo region.
The Essequibo has always been, and will remain, an integral part of Guyana. This fact is grounded in international law, validated by the 1899 Arbitral Award, and upheld by decades of peaceful and recognised borders. Venezuelaโ€™s continued attempts to revive a settled issue, particularly through undemocratic and unlawful means, represent a clear violation of international norms and a threat to regional stability.
We stand united as one people, with one destiny, in defense of our nation’s territorial integrity. Guyana will not be bullied, and we will continue to pursue justice through lawful and peaceful means, including through the International Court of Justice.
Let it be known: Essequibo belongs to Guyana. No election by Venezuelaโ€”legal or otherwiseโ€”can change that fact.
