Security measures heightened at Piarco, Airports Authority confirms

Loopnews – Security measures have been heightened at the Piarco International Airport following this morning’s shooting incident.

The Airport Authority of Trinidad and Tobago, via a media release, confirmed that immediately after the incident, senior officers of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service held a meeting with officials from the Authority to work out measures for strengthening and enhancing security at the airport.

The release noted that some of the measures will go into effect immediately, while others will be implemented in the coming days.

Additionally, the Authority said that other agencies within the National Security Framework have committed resources aimed at deterring such events and incidents.

“The Authority in partnership with the TTPS and other agencies will continue to ensure that the airport environment remains a safe and secure location for airport users and stakeholders,” the release added.
