Suriname-Guyana Chamber of Commerce Concludes Second AGM, Welcomes 2025 Board of Directors and Appoints New Officers

The Suriname-Guyana Chamber of Commerce (SGCC) is pleased to announce the successful conclusion of its Second Annual General Meeting (AGM), held on 24th March, 2025. During the meeting, members elected a new Board of Directors for 2025-2026. With strong participation from its dynamic membership, the AGM reaffirmed the Chamber’s ongoing commitment to promoting bilateral trade, collaboration, and deeper regional integration between Suriname and Guyana. 

Following a unanimous nomination and election process, the following companies and representatives were appointed to the SGCC 2025 Board of Directors:

The SGCC extends its sincere thanks to the outgoing, 2024 directors, Ms. Charlene Tjon-Sien-Kie and Ms. Anuskha Varsha Sonai, for their invaluable service. The Chamber also warmly welcomes its new board members, Ms. Carter-Sharma and Mr. Gangaram-Panday. 

At its first board meeting convened on 7th April, 2025, the Board elected its officers for the 2025 term as per the SGCC Constitution, as follows: 

  • Chairperson: Dr. Vishnu Doerga 
  • Vice Chairperson: Mr. Derrick Klaverweide 
  • Treasurer: Mr. Mark Sookhai 
  • Secretary: Mr. Samuel Glasgow 

These officers will work closely with the SGCC Secretariat to advance the Chamber’s vision of strengthened private sector collaboration and shared prosperity in the Guyana-Suriname corridor. 

The Chamber also reconfirms the appointment of its two esteemed Honorary Members, whose whose ongoing guidance and support are deeply valued: Her Excellency Liselle Blankendal, Ambassador of Suriname to Guyana, and His Excellency Virjanand Depoo, Ambassador of Guyana to Suriname 

The SGCC extends its gratitude to all members, partners, and stakeholders whose support made the 2nd AGM a success. The Chamber looks forward to a productive year of impactful initiatives, trade missions, policy advocacy, and valuable networking opportunities for businesses across the region.
