Bachelor’s Adventure man shot dead

A Bachelor’s Adventure, East Coast Demerara man was who shot on Friday died Saturday morning at the Georgetown Public Hospital while receiving medical attention.

Police said Kevin Phillips, age 44 years, of Lot 101 Melanie Damishana, ECD was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital after sustaining a single gunshot wound to his right abdomen. He was admitted a patient in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the said hospital, but succumbed to his injuries and was pronounce dead at about 06:50 hrs Saturday morning by Dr. Mangal, while receiving medical attention in the ICU. The body of the deceased was identified by his 33-year-old sister, Onica Benn. The body was taken to the Memorial Garden’s Mortuary where it is presently awaiting PME.

Police had reported initially that a witness was heading south on Bachelor’s Adventure Middle Road when he noticed Phillips seated on the western half of the street on a culvert. The eyewitness further stated he then saw the male suspect ran up to the victim and pointed what appeared to be a handgun, and he heard a single loud explosion, suspected to be a gunshot. The suspect then fled the area west through a cross street. The victim was immediately rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital by the eyewitness, where he underwent surgery.
