Dear Editor,

Guyana is today ruled by a power-drunk dictator who has zero tolerance for any person or entity that dares to criticise the regime or to hold them accountable.

Freedom of Conscience, Freedom of Speech and even Freedom of Assembly will soon be curtailed or severely restricted.

Corruption is the order of the day with the 1% of the oligarchs that are beholden to the ruling despots controlling all of Guyana’s wealth.

The 1% enjoys the favours and support of Bharrat Jagdeo and his stooge Irfaan Alli in all areas of life.

They are awarded huge contracts and in turn give huge kickbacks to the various Ministers and their relatives with the kickbacks being wired to the thousands of offshore accounts owned by the corrupt officials and their family members.

It is estimated that close to US $5 billion has been stolen via the PPP’s Friends, Families & Acolytes Programme since they came to power in 2020.

Every right-thinking Guyanese with a soul, a conscience and a patriotic duty must read the most recent Transparency International Report on Corruption in Guyana.

The Irfaan Ali Regime was quick to condemn the TI Report and threats have been made on the lives of the Board Members of Transparency International Guyana (TIGI) thus forcing several of them and their families to relocate overseas due to safety concerns.

The political climate in Guyana will only get worse as the 2025 Presidential & General Elections get closer.

The assault on Melly Mel is just the tip of the iceberg so do expect gag orders and arrests orders to emanate from the AG Anil Mohabir Nandlall (who it is alleged is a US Green Card holder), state interrogations including beatings and torture of anyone brave enough to stand enough to defy the Irfaan Ali Regime.

One can definitely expect targeted reprisals by the state against those it deems as a thorn in its side. Do you remember the Crum-Ewing Murder in 2015 of which nothing was done in terms of justice?

The people of Guyana must take a hard look at their lives and ask themselves if they are going to allow the governing brutes, savages and villains to return to power in 2025.

Yours truly,
Coretta McDonald AA MP
