The People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR) hosted its much-anticipated Young Professional Conference on Sunday, March 16, 2025, at Congress Place in Sophia. According to a statement from the Party, the event, themed “Harnessing Young Professionals for Leadership and National Development 2025,” marked a significant step in the PNCR’s ongoing efforts to engage and empower Guyana’s youth in shaping the nation’s future.
The conference, which drew hundreds of young professionals from across the country, provided a platform for discussions on the Party’s vision for youth development. The PNCR emphasised that empowering young professionals is central to its national development strategy, with a focus on creating opportunities in sectors like sports, culture, entrepreneurship, and employment.
PNCR Leader and Leader of the Opposition, Aubrey Norton delivered a powerful address outlining the Party’s commitment to advancing youth development. According to the statement, the Leader asserted, “The young people are both the present and the future and future leaders of our society.” He highlighted the Party’s prioritisation of youth growth, stressing that fostering their potential is vital for driving the country’s development.
The conference featured presentations from key Party officials and young leaders who shared insights and recommendations on how to create an environment that nurtures the aspirations of Guyana’s youth. The PNCR Leader expressed satisfaction at hearing directly from the next generation of innovators, entrepreneurs, and change-makers, noting their essential role in national development.
In addition to these presentations, attendees participated in interactive discussions with Party leaders, offering their perspectives on how the PNCR can better meet the needs of young professionals. The consultations underscored the importance of involving youth in policy making and governance, with many participants advocating for more robust programmes to support their personal and professional growth.
With the expectation that General and Regional Elections will be held this year, the PNCR reiterated its commitment to a society where every young person has the resources, support, and opportunities to succeed. The Party stressed that its focus on youth would remain central to its platform, aiming to place people at the heart of national development.
