Kyle Mayers demonstrated his all-round brilliance to help Team Abu Dhabi secure a commanding eight-wicket victory over the struggling Chennai Braves Jaguars in the Abu Dhabi T10 League. Mayers took a crucial wicket and smashed an unbeaten 14 from just seven balls, sealing the win with five deliveries to spare.

Batting first, the Jaguars posted 103-5 in their 10 overs, a total built largely on a powerful late assault from Thesara Perera, who blazed 45 off just 20 balls, including three fours and four towering sixes. Earlier, opener Dan Lawrence contributed a steady 33 from 22 balls with two boundaries and two sixes. Perera’s heroics in the death overs gave the Jaguars a fighting chance, but he fell on the final ball of the innings to Mayers, who bowled a tight over conceding just 10 runs.

Chasing 104 for victory, Team Abu Dhabi got off to a flying start thanks to opener Phil Salt, who hammered 43 off only 20 balls. His blistering knock included four fours and three sixes, setting the tone for a comfortable chase. Michael Pepper added a crucial 23 off 14 deliveries, providing stability in the middle overs.

Mayers then delivered the finishing touches with a quick-fire 14 not out, hitting three boundaries to guide his side home at 106-2 in 9.1 overs. His composure under pressure underscored his value as a versatile performer in the fast-paced T10 format.

The result marked the Jaguars’ fifth consecutive loss, leaving them rooted to the bottom of the table without a win. For Team Abu Dhabi, the victory—their third of the competition—propelled them to fourth place with six points, keeping their playoff hopes alive.

With Mayers excelling in both departments and the team finding form, Team Abu Dhabi will aim to build on this momentum in their upcoming fixtures.(Sportsmax)
