Justice James Patterson, the former Chairman of the Guyana Elections Commission, passed away on Saturday evening, as confirmed by Demerara Waves.
At the age of 89, Justice Patterson took his last breath at his Century Palm home in Durban Park, Georgetown.
According to the report, over the past few months, his health had been deteriorating.
Justice Patterson was appointed as the GECOM Chairman in October 2017. However, in 2019, his appointment by President David Granger was deemed unconstitutional by the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ), leading to his resignation.
He was set to celebrate his 90th birthday on August 25, 2023.
