Mayor Pt.Ubraj Narine delivered a compelling speech at the Hare Krishna Study Centre’s Annual Chariot Festival, known as Ratha-yatra, in the city of Georgetown. Addressing a diverse audience of devotees and community leaders, Narine emphasised the importance of religious education and called upon the government to allocate land for the establishment of a larger study centre for Hindus, known as Gurukula.

In his remarks, the mayor acknowledged the exceptional work carried out by the Hare Krishna Study Centre, which has significantly contributed to the spiritual well-being and cultural enrichment of the community. He highlighted the need to expand the existing facilities to accommodate a larger number of students and provide advanced educational resources.

Narine passionately asserted, “It is imperative that we invest in the future of our community by fostering religious education and cultural preservation. The Hare Krishna Study Centre has been a beacon of knowledge and spiritual guidance for many years, and it is high time we support their vision of establishing a Gurukula.”

The mayor went on to emphasise that the proposed Gurukula would not only serve as an educational institution but also as a center for the promotion and preservation of Hindu traditions, values, and scriptures. He highlighted the positive impact such an institution would have on fostering a stronger sense of cultural identity and spiritual growth among the Hindu community.

Recognising the government’s commitment to religious freedom and cultural diversity, Mayor Pt.Narine called upon the authorities to allocate suitable land for the expansion of the Hare Krishna Study Centre. He stressed that this would not only be a significant contribution to the Hindu community but also a testament to the government’s dedication to fostering religious harmony and cultural inclusivity.

The Hare Krishna Study Centre extends its heartfelt gratitude to Mayor Pt. Narine for his unwavering support and advocacy over the years. Narine hopes that the government will recognise the importance of this endeavor and take prompt action to allocate the necessary land for the establishment of the Gurukula.
