59-year-old man fell sick after drinking bitters from girlfriend

A 59-year-old man is now hospitalised after using doses of bitters from his girlfriend.

Clarence Charles of Belle West, WCD reportedly called the police on Saturday evening, saying that he had injected himself with a liquid and was not feeling well.

Ranks responded to the call and visited his home, where they found Charles lying in front of his home.

He was picked up and taken the the West Demerara Regional Hospital where he was admitted a patient in a stable condition.

Enquiries revealed that Charles was given a bottle of bitters by his girlfriend about two months ago which he drank everyday until Saturday when he started feeling unwell.

Efforts made so far to contact the girlfriend has proven futile.

Investigations are ongoing.
