Man stabbed to death during Easter fun day

A man was stabbed to death during a fun day on Monday at Mabaruma Settlement Ground, Region One.

Dead is Sherwin Smith. Police said the suspect was arrested at the scene.
Enquiries revealed that on Monday there was an Easter Day activity at the Mabaruma Settlement Ground where a Policeman, who was on duty at the eastern gate, saw the suspect approaching the victim with a knife in his hands.

The suspect went up to the victim and dealt him two  stabs about his body.
As a result, the Police immediately arrested the suspect and took away the knife from him.
The victim ran to a nearby car and was rushed to the Mabaruma Regional Hospital where he was immediately taken into the Emergency Unit and seen by Dr. London who treated him.
At about 20:00 hrs, he succumbed to his injuries.
A team of Police ranks visited the Mabaruma Regional Hospital where they observed the deceased had injuries to his left side abdomen and  to his neck.

The body was then escorted to the mortuary awaiting a Post Mortem Examination.

The suspect is presently in custody at the Mabaruma Police Station.
Investigations are ongoing.
