Guyana, July, 2023 – Wendy Walker, a dedicated member of the diaspora, has been a consistent supporter of STEMGuyana for several years. Her latest contribution to the organization comes in the form of two barrels filled with books and instructional materials, aimed at enriching the educational experience of STEMGuyana’s young participants.
Walker, who has been actively involved in education initiatives in the US, is nearing the completion of her doctoral degree in Curriculum and Instruction. Set to present her dissertation in August, her research focuses on enhancing pedagogy through the infusion of trauma-informed and restorative practices, further demonstrating her commitment to innovative and effective teaching methodologies.
In addition to the valuable books and instructional materials, Walker generously donated multiple sets of discussion poster cards, which are essential components of character kits that will be used in STEMGuyana’s programs. These materials contribute to the holistic development of the students, fostering critical thinking, communication skills, and character building.
The donation was gratefully received by Mr. Dominic Budhan, a representative of STEMGuyana. Expressing his gratitude, Budhan conveyed the organization’s appreciation for Wendy Walker’s continuous support stating, “Ms Walker’s contributions play a vital role in the growth and success of STEMGuyana, positively impacting the lives of countless children in Guyana.”
