The Institute for Action Against Discrimination is honoured to wish the people of Guyana a joyous 186th Indian Arrival Day. This historic occasion commemorates the arrival of the first Indian indentured labourers to what was then British Guiana in 1838.

“The contributions of the Indo-Guyanese have been integral to the cultural richness and economic prosperity of Guyana,” said vice chairman Pt.Ubraj Narine.

As we reflect on this meaningful milestone, we reaffirm our steadfast support for the continued advancement of human rights, social justice, and equality for all people.

May the 186th Indian Arrival Day inspire renewed hope, pride, and celebration of the indelible Indo-Guyanese legacy in Guyana.
