Dear Editor,

It is not my wont to defend the Stabroek News of for that matter, any of the independent media, but i read a rather lengthy dissertation by Anil Persaud, Research Officer for Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs and Governance titled  “ Guyana is making genuine good faith efforts to fight corruption.”

Corruption in Guyana during the twenty-three years of the PPP and against since August 2020 has become epidemic  Speak to people from Eteringbang to the North West to the extreme East, West , South and North of the country and they would tell you that this demon of corruption is everywhere from top to bottom and Mr. Persaud’s reference to the Procurement Commission among other things fools no one, as is the case and elsewhere who identifies and appoints these bodies?

Evidence suggests misunderstanding of fair play and justice by those best described as political appointees .

Today, even PPP supporters are complaining about the mishandling of our patrimony and as exposed on Glenn Lall’s show, there is a failure to provide answers dealing with our God-given resources.

Mr. Persaud should know his verbosity impresses no one with a modicum of intelligence. Corruption takes many forms. One is the use of the media funded by the people, only carrying one side of our story and I bet you, Editor, that the state propaganda machinery will never ever publish letters from concerned members of civil society in the same way as SN and KN from time to time publishes the views hostile  to the Opposition.

Yours truly,

Hamilton Green

Elder
