Plantain Chips produced at the packaging facility

A local business, called ‘Caribe Snackz,’ was launched on Friday at the Guyana Manufacturing Corporation (GMC) Agro-processing Facility, Parika, Region Three. The business is offering several snacks products including plantain chips.

Chief Executive Officer of Caribe Snackz, Chief Samsair said the business will offer five different varieties of plantain and cassava chips and has plans to expand in the future.

Caribe Snackz will supply the local and regional markets and is also eyeing entering the North American and European markets.

The company presently has 25 persons in it direct employ and plans to increase the number as the business expands. Additionally, the company utilises the services of another 100-plus people. The CEO also made known the company’s commitment to supporting local farmers.
