U.S. Embassy in Georgetown, Guyana Increases Security Protocols Due to Threats Against U.S. Interests

In an alert dated March 28th, 2023, at 11:22PM, the U.S. Embassy in Georgetown, Guyana announced that it has implemented increased security protocols in response to receiving threats against U.S. interests. The announcement has left U.S. citizens in the country feeling concerned, as the embassy has not disclosed specific details regarding the nature of the threats that prompted the decision.

Increased security protocols can refer to a range of measures taken by the embassy to enhance its security posture. These measures may include but are not limited to, additional security personnel, increased physical security measures, enhanced screening procedures for visitors and staff, and restrictions on embassy personnel. The embassy may also have established more robust communication protocols for staff and visitors to ensure swift responses in case of an emergency.
