PNCR/APNU Raises Alarm Over Corentyne Flooding, Cites Longstanding Drainage Problems

Earlier this morning, between 05:30 and 07:00 hrs, Police ranks carried out a ‘cordon and search’ exercise in Plaisance, East Coast Demerara, where a resident was nabbed with an unlicensed firearm and 12 matching rounds of ammunition.
At about 05:30 hrs, whilst the police patrol was on Victoria Road Plaisance, a 29-year-old resident of Britton Street, Plaisance, was seen riding a black bicycle heading south. The Police ranks stopped him, searched his person, and found a Taurus semi-automatic .32 pistol with a magazine containing 12 matching rounds in the waist of his pants.
He was then told of the allegation, cautioned and arrested. He was taken to the Sparendaam Police Station and placed into custody. The Firearm and Ammunition were lodged. Investigations are ongoing. (Police release)
