Police are investigating the alleged drowning of Gharbaran Rampattie, a 54-year-old labourer of Lot 8 Perseverance, Essequibo Coast which occurred today Thursday 2nd of March 2023 at Perseverance Canal. Enquiries disclosed that 54-year-old Rampattie who suffered from Epilepsy and was a habitual drinker, was last seen alive on the said pushing his bicycle. Hours later a 60 year-old vendor discovered the man’s body floating in the said canal.The man’s body was fished out of the canal and examined but no marks of violence were seen on his body. The body was escorted to the Suddie Public Hospital awaiting a post mortem examination.
