A Kaneville taxi driver was arrested in West Berbice with 37,195 grammes marijuana in car trunk Wednesday after two police ranks observed a motor car HD 4490 at Seafield public road west coast Berbice on the northern side of the public road facing east.
The ranks approached the car and saw Elton Brown called Shortman, a 32-year-old taxi driver from Kaneville, East Bank Demerara, seated in the driver seat, and Travon Sinclair, a 24-year-old labourer from New Amsterdam, seated in the front passenger seat.
A Police sergeant searched the car and found three multi-colour bags in the trunk containing five wrapped bulky parcels containing cannabis.
Brown and Sinclair were told of the offence, arrested and cautioned and were both escorted to the Weldaad Police Station along with the Cannabis, which, when weighed, amounted to 37,195 grammes.
The two suspects are in custody, and charges are expected to be laid shortly.
