Is the official list of electors compromised? The answer is obvious…

As the debate over the bloat of the voter’s list continues, one should reasonably question why the official list of electors, having remained in the 400 thousands over the course of 4 election cycles or 14 years, even decreasing twice, should miraculously increase to over 500,000 voters in 2015 and over 600,000 registered voters in 2020.  The people of Guyana deserve a straight forward answer to this question.

A possible explanation could be that while the PPP were still winning elections from 1997 to 2011, their share of the votes was rapidly decreasing until 2015.  Conveniently, the 2015 elections was the first election in 5 election cycles where the total number of registered voters jumped significantly beyond the normal 400,000 range and the first time in 5 election cycles that the PPP’s share of the votes bucked the preceding 4 years of decrease and increased substantially to 202,656.  These are not unreasonable questions to ask.
