Man goes missing in boat mishap on Essequibo River

A river search is now underway for a man who disappeared during a boat mishap on the Essequibo River at 23:00hrs on Thursday.
Missing is Lakeram Kuber – a 54-year-old resident of Bellplaine,Wakenaam Island.
The Guyana Police Force, in a statement, said Kuber along with 58-year-old Feroze Amin of Lots 14-15 Good Success, Wakenaam Island left the Island for Supenaam in a fiber glass boat powered by a 100 HP Yamaha outboard engine. Amin was driving the boat at the time.
The two men picked up Floyd Dazzellalong the way and as they were returning to Wakanaam the boat capsized and went down. Dazzell and Amin managed to swim to safety to the Wakenaam shore while Kuber did not. A search is on for him and the boat.
