Former Magistrate, Cecil Sullivan on Monday afternoon died at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
Reports are that Sullivan was tested positive for Covid-19. He had received one shot of the Covid vaccines.

There have been conflicting accounts as to what transpired when Sullivan arrived at the hospital for treatment after complaining about feeling weak at home. Initially there were rumours that he was denied entry owing to a lack of Covid vaccine certification. The GPHC and other government agencies have been enforcing a strict policy that requires visitors to produce a covid vaccine certificate or a negative covid test results before gaining entry to the compound. Several nurses have been locked out of the country’s primary healthcare institution since last week.

In a statement regarding Sullivan’s death the GPHC says it continues its investigation to ascertain the events that led to the demise of Sullivan.

The hospital said based on the accounts received from staff members and bystanders, it is apparent that Mr. Sullivan was brought to the hospital’s East Street triage area in severe respiratory distress. “Upon arriving at the triage facility, a Public Security Officer accompanied Mr. Sullivan’s relative into the triage area and alerted the medical staff who upon examination found Mr. Sullivan unresponsive.

The GPHC wishes to extend sympathies to the relatives and loved ones of Mr. Cecil Sullivan,” the hospital said.
