A Black Bush Polder woman is fighting for her life in the New Amsterdam Public Hospital after being stabbed by her spouse, who reportedly committed suicide after the vicious attack.
The 27-year-old woman was attacked on Tuesday (April 27) at around 17:00hrs in full view of her two children by her spouse – 35-year-old Troy Sandy.

The Guyana Police Force, in a statement, said the 27-year-old woman and her two children were on their way home in a taxi when the car was blocked by another vehicle PKK 2541.
It is alleged that Sandy exited the driver’s seat of PKK 2541 armed with a cutlass and began to behave in a disorderly manner towards the victim.

“The hire car driver and another man in the area tried to deescalate the situation when the deceased attempted to chop the victim and he threw the cutlass aside,” the police reported.

According to the police, Sandy and the victim continued to argue, and it was during the course of the argument that he armed himself with a knife from his car and rushed to the victim, stabbing her to the mid region of her neck. He then went to his motorcar and sped away, making good his escape.

The 27-year-old was assisted by the taxi driver to the Mibicuri Public Hospital, where she was treated and transferred to New Amsterdam Public Hospital for further treatment. She is currently admitted as a patient in a serious but stable condition.
Sandy was subsequently found at the Mibicuri Public Hospital where he was admitted a patient for ingestion of poison.

On Monday, at 23:35hrs he died. His remains are now at Ramoo’s Funeral Home awaiting a PME.
