Dear Editor

The PPP/C during its campaign made numerous promises and presented a very impressive manifesto. That’s the reason I voted for them and I’m sure many others causing it to win the elections.

The President has a cabinet of ministers that’s not so impressive. The President is young, energetic and means well for the development of our country.

While all sectors have taken off in spite of the covid pandemic, we can see progress in all the ministries and ministers. The same cannot be said for the Ministry of Home Affairs. It appears as though the minister is laid back allowing the various entities under his watch to function without any proper policy oversight as there seems to be serious corruption and mismanagement as reported in the news.

The minister is not new, since he held ministerial post previously. The Permanent Secretary is relatively new nothing much is known about her and she doesn’t seem to have a proper foundation how to manage. There appears to be a power struggle whereby the PS is more concerned with showing authority rather than to assist the minister in properly seeing the implementation of policies.

I do hope the President take a closer look into the functions and operations of this very important ministry. Crime can deteriorate any development.

Yours truly,

Gomes.
