Do not attend Court if you’re COVID-19 positive – Supreme Court

The Supreme Court of Judicature is urging persons who have tested COVID-19 positive do not to attend court while positive but request the rescheduling of their case.

In a notice on Tuesday, the Supreme Court of Judicature announced that such persons should contact the Clerk of Court in their Magisterial District for a new date or to reschedule the case.

“Magistrates’ Court users with matters in Court or at Court offices and who are under home isolation or quarantine due to COVID-19 concerns, must not attend any Court compound or Court building in person. Such persons must contact the Clerk of Court for the relevant Magisterial District for a date or to attend Court or to reschedule their cases,” Supreme Court of Judicature urged.

The telephone numbers for Clerks of Court for Magisterial Districts are: Georgetown 225-9110, 216-0483; Berbice 333-2834; Corentyne 337-2679, 337-2648; West Berbice 332-0600, 232-0512; East Demerara 274-0690; West Demerara 264-2359; Upper Demerara River 442-1402; Essequibo 774-4321, 744-4373; Rupununi 772-2334.

Emails can also be sent to the email addresses for the Magisterial Districts listed on the Supreme Court’s website www.supremecourt.com and on its Facebook page @SupremeCourt.GY.
