Miner arrested for possession of 540 grams of cannabis at ‘Poppy Show’ landing

A 26-year-old miner of Sideline Dam Golden Grove, East Coast Demerara (ECD) has been arrested for being in possession of 540 grams of cannabis on the ‘Poppy Show’ landing.

According to reports, between January 23 and January 24, 2021, a party of policemen conducted patrols and raids at ‘Poppy Show’ and Tamakay Landings, Upper Mazaruni River.

Police said that during a search of a room in an apartment building, four square parcels of compressed cannabis was found. The occupant of the room was not there at the time of the search.

Checks were made for the occupant of the room to no avail. The compressed cannabis has since been lodged at the police station.
