Caribbean Airlines has announced that, effective January 26, 2021, all passengers traveling into the United States (U.S.) will be required to present a negative COVID-19 test in order to travel.
The announcement comes following the January 12 statement of the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention that all air passengers entering the U.S. would need a negative test.
The strategy, it said, is consistent with the current phase of the pandemic and will more efficiently protect the health of Americans.
COVID-19 has killed at least 399,015 people and infected about 24.1 million in the U.S. since last January.
According to Caribbean Airlines: “It will be mandatory to have a COVID-19 test no older than 3 days before the flight departure date to the United States. Travelers must provide written documentation of their laboratory test result (paper or electronic copy) to the airline at check-in.”
Passengers who do not provide documentation of a negative COVID-19 test result will not be allowed to travel.
Added to this, all persons traveling must adhere to the COVID-19 entry requirements for their respective destinations.
Similar requirements are in place for travel to Guyana whereby PCR tests are mandatory. The test must be no older than 72 hours or the passenger will be asked to take another upon arrival.
