Wilderness Explorers, Guyana’s lone Destination Management Company has been granted conditional approval to reopen its doors, the company announced in a statement.

“With careful preparation, training and retrofitting of their office to standards accepted by the Guyana Tourism Authority (GTA) and the COVID-19 Task Force (CTF), Wilderness Explorers, Guyana’s only Destination Management Company (DMC) and the country’s leading tourism operator has been granted conditional approval to reopen their doors,” Wilderness Explorers.

Wilderness Explorers said it has represented Destination Guyana for more than 26 years, with a focus on selling all of Guyana’s tourism products to both the international market as well as the domestic market.

“To ensure tourism in Guyana can continue to perform as an effective driver for the Guyanese economy Wilderness Explorers has partnered with the Guyana Tourism Authority to provide extensive training to tourism suppliers to support them in preparing to deliver safe travel.”

The Company said that with the assistance of the IDB, Wilderness Explorers has been able to retrofit the way they do business to adapt to operating in the time of COVID-19, ensuring the safety of our team, our guests, our communities and for all those visiting and living in Guyana.

The Tourism industry has been heavily hit by the COVID-19 pandemic and have lost significant revenues as a result of the restrictions imposed as a result of the pandemic.

“It has been a difficult 9 months for all in the tourism sector.  But slowly Guyana’s tourism sector is beginning to reopen in the midst of the pandemic. ,” Wilderness Explorers said.
