The National Insurance Scheme (NIS) has launched a digital service to assist overseas based Guyanese complete their life certificates.
In a statement Friday, NIS said that the new service will use video calls to complete the life certificates. “This will be done via Whatsapp on a cell phone. The service will require pensioners providing a phone number, an email address and is available to persons living both locally and overseas,” NIS said.
In the first instance, six Officers have been identified to provide the service from Monday to Thursday between 8:00h to 16:30h and on Friday from 8:00 h to 15:30h. Six mobile numbers have been assigned to the new service. They are:

NIS said that it is committed to excellence and constantly reviews the services offered to ensure customer satisfaction.
“Service, especially to our pensioners, is of utmost priority since NIS values the contributions of our senior citizens. Serving the growing pension’s population has become a great concern to the Scheme and other stakeholders. This is especially true for our pensioners who reside overseas and sometimes are forced to pay large sums of monies to complete their life certificates,” NIS said.
