Five injured in Corentyne accident

Five persons have been injured in a Clifton Public Road, East Berbice –Corentyne (Region Six) accident after a hire care, driven by 46-year-old Neilawghun Subadar of Belvedere Corentyne crashed into a parked unregistered lorry.
The other occupants of the car were 38-year-old Indranie Permaul of Hampshire Toopoo Corentyne, Berbice; 43-year-old Nankumar Raganandan of Smith Field, New Amsterdam; 40-year-old Chatenauth Hardat and 43-year-old Donna Balkarran of Williamsburg, Corentyne.

According to reports, the accident occurred at about 05:30h on Tuesday when the hire car bearing registration number HC 4909 was proceeding west along the southern drive lane of the Clifton Public Road when Subadar, the driver, lost control of the car and collided with the lorry.

The driver and the four passengers were all removed from the car and taken to the Port Mourant Hospital where Hardat was treated and sent away and Balkarran was admitted for observation.

Permaul, who is suffering from a fractured hip, Raganandan, trauma to the head and Subadar, internal injuries were transferred to the New Amsterdam hospital where they were admitted.

Their conditions are listed as serious.

The accident is being investigated.
