A Chinese national was on Monday night robbed of $300,000 ad an Iphone7 valued $100,000 by three masked and armed men.

Police said that Shoa Mei Li, the proprietor of Su Ping Chinese Restaurant, of Reliance Settlement, East Canje, Berbice was bathing her son when her husband Cap Zao Kai heard a noise coming from the south of the yard.

Kai went to make checks and saw one man armed with a long gun. He then ran into the restaurant and locked the door. The three armed bandits, all of whom were dressed in dark clothing, approached his wife and dealt her several lashes to her head with a knife and then took her to the living quarters and demanded that she handed over her money, which she did.

The bandits then took her iPhone which was charging and ransacked the house.

“The victim allegedly heard someone else talking and the men suddenly left and jump the southern fence and made good their escape,” Police said in a statement.

Police were called. Upon arrival they combed the area but were unable to find the bandits.

Investigations are ongoing.
