According to reports, the car was proceeding east along the northern side of the Canal No. 1 Access Road reportedly at a fast rate while the pedestrian was standing along the northern side of the said road.

“The driver alleged that while in the process of passing the pedestrian he made a step forward and collided with the left side front fender and wing mirror and fell onto the northern edge of the road surface and parapet some distance away from where he stood and received injuries about his body,” Police said.

The driver stopped, picked up the conscious child and took him to the West Demerara Regional Hospital, where he was examined by a doctor on duty for his injuries and referred to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was admitted as a patient.

His condition is regarded as stable.

Police said that two breathalyzer tests were conducted on the driver where .00%BAC and .00%BAC micrograms were registered.

The driver is in police custody assisting with the investigation.
