A 55-year-old Fisherman of Marihaba Village, Moruca, North West District has been arrested for seriously wounding his son-in-law following a drunken altercation on Christmas day.
The injured man has been identified as 29-year-old Clive Benn of the Pomeroon River.

According to Police, at around 16:00h Benn left his father-in-law’s home to attend a que-que and consumed alcohol. At about 21:00h, Benn returned home highly intoxicated and started to behave in a disorderly manner.

The suspect, also a fisherman, tried talking to Benn about his behavior but Benn became angry and armed himself with two knives and approached his father-in-law.

As a result, the suspect grabbed his cutlass which was nearby and chopped him to his face.
The victim then ran away and public spirited citizens took him to the Waramuri Health Center where he was admitted and subsequently discharged on December 26, 2020.

Investigations are ongoing.
