Alcoholic burnt to death

Police are investigating a fire of unknown origin which  resulted in the death of a male suspected to be Roy Rajbanse, age 61 years of Jackson Creek Corentyne Berbice.

The incident occurred between Saturday night about 20:30 hours and Sunday about 06:30 hours at the above address.

Enquiries revealed that the deceased who is a known alcoholic and heavy smoker was last seen on Saturday about 16:00 hours in the company of a farmer from Moleson Creek consuming alcohol and smoking cigarettes when sometime later they both became intoxicated and Rajbanse left and went in his home, while the farmer proceeded to his residence at Moleson Creek.

On Sunday about 06:20 hours persons were passing on the access road when they observed the fire and they raised an alarm and notified the police and the Guyana Fire Service who responded promptly and immediately went into action and extinguished the fire.  Subsequently, the charred remains a human body was discovered, same was escorted to the Skeldon Hospital it was pronounced dead by a doctor on duty.  The body is presently at the Baileys Funeral Home home awaiting a Post Mortem Examination.
Further investigation in progress.
